Which Android app maker should I use? (60-second picker)
Five questions, one recommendation, and the reasoning behind it.
How the picker decides
| If… | Then |
|---|---|
| You need native-only features or have Kotlin code | Android Studio (or blocks without a PC) |
| Content is files, or must work offline | HTML to APK |
| Content is a website that changes | Website to APK |
The full reasoning is in URL to APK vs HTML to APK and the best Android app makers.
The five questions, explained
What do you have right now?
The biggest factor. A website points to URL to APK; HTML files point to HTML to APK; native code points to Android Studio.
How often does the content change?
Frequent changes favour a URL app, because edits to the site appear without releasing an update.
Must it work without internet?
If yes, the content has to be inside the app — the HTML route.
Widgets, background tasks or Bluetooth?
Those are native features. A web-based app maker can't provide them; a blocks builder or Android Studio can.
Do you have a development computer?
Android Studio needs a capable PC. Without one, blocks builders run in a browser and the URL/HTML makers run on the phone.
